I have trained as a Yoga Therapist for Anxiety with Heather Masson at the Minded Institute in London. The Minded Institute model of yoga therapy draws on a combination of yoga postures (asanas), breathing practices (pranayama) and mindfulness techniques to alleviate symptoms of anxiety. My interest in this training was driven by of course my love of yoga and the fact that yoga had helped me conquer anxiety. Furthermore, as a student of psychology with the Open University, I realised that although there are many treatments for anxiety, unfortunately not all of them are successful or indeed accessible to everyone. Yoga can be practiced at home with minimum equipment. Although expert guidance from a teacher in the first instance is recommended, yoga is a cost efficient accessible treatment and if practiced correctly has no side effects. I always think of my yoga practice as having a tool box of methods, whether it be postures, breathing techniques or relaxations to help me throughout life. I can help you incorporate yoga in to your life, so that you too have a tool box of techniques to help you whenever anxiety stops you from living life to the full.
