Restorative Yoga

I have recently had the pleasure of completing Relax and Renew® Restorative Yoga teacher training with Judith Hanson Lasater. She is considered the “queen of restorative yoga” and defines Restorative yoga as follows:
“Restorative yoga is the use of props to create positions of ease and comfort that facilitate relaxation and health”
Unlike sleep where your subconscious is still actively processing information, deep rest allows your brain to enter a mode where it can truly rejuvenate.
Furthermore, one of the things I love about Restorative yoga is that it can be practiced by individuals of any age, all levels of yoga experience and in all states of health. In Restorative yoga we are opening the body not stretching. We are learning to rest deeply and completely (which may not be easy at first).
We are all aware of how chronic stress resulting from over stimulation, caring responsibilities, work demands or money worries can lead to stress related diseases. Luckily the antidote to stress is relaxation. Restorative yoga poses relieve the effects of chronic stress in several ways. When we relax, the muscles release, our blood pressure and stress hormone levels drop, the heart rate, breathing rate and brain waves slow down. You are not having to use your own energy to receive the energy of yoga.
If you are ready to lead a more productive and fulfilling life. I offer one-to-one Restorative Yoga sessions, tailored to your individual needs. A 90-minute session costs £40.00. Small group classes, with a maximum of 4 students will be offered soon and if you would like information on up coming classes please contact me for more details.
