Qualifications

I have been practising yoga for over 20 years and never intended to teach. However, loving yoga so much and wanting to deepen my practice I decided to take the plunge and I completed a two year 200-hour Dru yoga teacher training course in 2018 at Stirling University.  Dru yoga is a therapeutic form of yoga suitable for anyone. The training made me realise that I wanted to pass on the benefits that yoga has given me in every aspect of my life. I have since then also taken an additional 300 hour advanced teacher training course and am now a 500 hour Registered Yoga Teacher. I am certified to teach Dru, Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, and Adaptive Yoga. In addition I am qualified to teach Yoga Nidra. I am a Yoga Therapist for Anxiety trained in the Minded Institute in London and I have recently taken further Trauma Informed Yoga Training.

Recently looking for more knowledge of anatomy I studied Experiential Anatomy with two of Americas most influential teachers, Judith Hanson Lasater and Mary Richards. This course has taught me that we have to respect our anatomical reality and that there is a safe and beneficial way for everyone to practice. Judith Hanson Lasater uses the mantra “We should teach people and not poses”. The knowledge I have gained studying this course has allowed me to be a much more insightful teacher.

Although I have practised many different types of yoga, the style of yoga that really resonates with me is Iyengar yoga and I have been lucky enough to train with numerous Senior Iyengar yoga teachers, mainly in week long workshops, over the last 10 years. Iyengar yoga uses props to help facilitate postures and as such I use many props in my private sessions to aid and facilitate postures and really add a valuable aspect to yoga teaching.

I can tailor private and semi-private lessons, which will give you yoga postures, breathing exercises and mindfulness practices that can be used on and off the mat. I will utilise the type of yoga that best suits the student and you can be sure that I have the knowledge to work with every student in a safe and enjoyable way.

I am fully insured through The Yoga Alliance Professionals, Member ID 18633 and am also a registered 500 RYT with Yoga Alliance USA registration number 319244.
